Novozymes is the biotech-based world leader in enzymes and microorganisms. With more than 100 types of enzymes and microorganisms and no less than 700 different products, Novozymes has the largest product portfolio in the world.
In more than 40 different industries and 130 countries our biological solutions improve industrial performance and quality while at the same time saving on water, energy, raw materials and waste. Novozymes is quoted on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
Business strategy
In addition to the core enzyme business, Novozymes’ business strategy covers industrial microorganisms, biopolymers and pharmaceutical proteins.
Enzymes and microorganisms for industrial applications are Novozymes' core business. Consequently, enzymes will continue to attract around 85% of our research resources, while 5% will be devoted to microorganisms.
Based on our biotech competences and technologies, the business strategy also includes initiatives outside the core enzymes business. Novozymes will use in-house projects, strategic alliances and acquisitions to enter new business areas.
Employees
Novozymes has more than 4,000 employees in 30 countries. Half of these are based in Denmark.

The biotechnology platform
Novozymes is a world-leading biotechnology company with state-of-the-art expertise in microbiology, biotechnology and gene technology. We spend 11-13% of sales on research & development and 15% of our employees work in R&D.
Our biotechnology platform is based on the company's core competences. These enable us to find, develop or refine enzymes and microorganisms that meet our customers' needs and to produce them safely in large quantities.
Our biological production is also state-of-the-art with continued improvements and economies of scale. This means high entry barriers for new competition.
